As the year draws to a close, students have already begun planning out their schedules
for the 2026-2027 school year. As always, QVHS has a wide variety of classes for students to
choose from, and the Program of Studies will feature new classes for students to take next year.
One such class is Manufacturing and Fabrication taught by Mr. Santucci. In this class,
Students will learn basic skills for the production and manufacturing industry, handling various tools and materials. Along with learning technique and safety, students will be able to take part in larger projects assembling furniture and decorations. Manufacturing and Fabrication is open to all grades, and an advanced course is offered for grades 10-12 so that students who have completed the basic course can learn more in-depth skills for the manufacturing industry.
For those who are more interested in designing than crafting, Introduction to Design
taught by Mrs. Campbell will be available to all grade levels. Introduction to Design explores how to use shapes, colors and space to create visually pleasing fashion and interior designs.
This means that students will be able to work with fabric and design livable spaces. Any student who is interested in such topics is encouraged to look into Introduction to Design.
Another class that creative students might enjoy is Introduction to Printmaking. In this
class, Mrs. Strelec will teach students various printmaking techniques using a variety of
ink and materials. Students will carve out prints that can be used over and over with different ink. Any students interested in art are welcome to join, and though a previous enrollment in the Introduction to Drawing and Painting course is suggested, any student can take the class regardless of prior knowledge. Also led by Mrs. Strelec is the Independent Artist’s Studio, where students in grades 11-12 can direct their own exploration of an art form of their choosing. With instructor approval, serious artists can create a study plan to enrich their knowledge, skills, and creative voices, documenting their progress throughout their studies.
For students more interested in technology and business, Marketing Design and
Technology is offered by Dr. Mariano. This elective course focuses on how technology is used to implement effective marketing strategies. Students who take this course will use digital tools to create campaigns and projects, using this to promote products and show brand identity. This class will look into market research and consumer psychology, and all the ways modern technology can work its way into marketing. Any aspiring entrepreneurs will find this class very interesting regardless of prior knowledge and experience.
While there are many wonderful courses to be taken at Quaker Valley High School, teachers are always working to enhance and expand students' learning experience. With that in mind, the District hopes that every student will consider broadening their horizons in the upcoming year.
