About The Quaker Quill
School news, by the students and for the students.
Quaker Quill is a quarterly print newspaper prepared by students in grades 9-12 and edited by senior editors. Quill print issues typically appear in October, December, February and May. Digital issues are also published monthly from October-May. The student publication has achieved 1st place awards from the American Scholastic Press Association for several years consecutively.
Meet the Writers
Drew is the manager of the website in addition to film critic of the Quaker Quill. He has been writing movies reviews since 7th grade, and spends his free time watching movies, writing, playing video games, and working at the Tull Family Theater.
Paige Nichols is one of the Quaker Quill reporters. She’s writes investigative reports about topics the students of Quaker Valley want to know. Paige also hopes to incorporate important events in and out of school into the newspaper. She is interested in all art forms including painting, writing, and music. She plays track and field, and does discus and shot put.
This is Morgan’s second year as Copy Editor for the Quaker Quill. She has been a reporter for the newspaper for three years now. While her main school-related activity is writing and editing for the Quill, she also does competitive cheerleading and dance. She spends her free time volunteering at the animal shelter, watching Netflix, and writing about her crazy, vivid dreams.
Rebecca Graham writes about news in the school and community. She is involved in marching band, pep band, girls tennis, Best Buddies, NHS, Science Olympiad and the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. She loves cooking, bike riding, and her two dogs.
Olivia is a poet at heart but loves writing about news in the school and larger community, especially stories involving activism and youth narratives. In her limited free time between dance and school clubs, she enjoys volunteering at Fern Hollow Nature Center and learning about the natural world.
What’s there to say about Will Torrance that Will hasn’t already said about himself? Will covers the talent inside QV. He also reviews other media, like video games or television. When Will isn’t entertaining people onstage or referring to himself in the third-person, he enjoys making others laugh and loves any “retro” pop culture.
Niko writes articles about world news and school events, as well as investigative pieces. He enjoys cooking, skateboarding, and drawing. When not writing for the Quaker Quill, he can often be found taking a walk through the woods or playing video games.
Mareena is a writer at heart, she loves writing about school news and creative writing. She is also a rower and loves being on the water. When Mareena isn’t writing or rowing she loves to spend time with her friends, family, and neighbors. She also loves staying in for movie nights with friends.
